We went to Vegas (Sandy Valley) to Fernando's little brother's mission home coming. He returned from Washington D.C. It was a great weekend and much warmer than the cold that we returned to. It happened to be Halloween weekend and we were able to go to Trunk or Treat at their branch. We had some great chili that his mom made and had his little sister, Afton, get us some candy.

My Birthday Week!!!!

I turned the big 28 this year. That makes me OLD! 27 seems so much younger. I've always told Fernando that one day to celebrate my birthday just isn't enough. I need a whole week :) It was a GREAT week!!! On Monday he gave me a surprise he bought me when he was in LA, Tuesday he made me breakfast, Wednesday he cleaned the house, Thursday he took me out to eat at Tacanos and gave me presents, Friday my parents came into town and took us out to eat at Thai Siam and we went to the movie "The Help", Saturday he made a delicious breakfast for my parents and myself, and Sunday he invited friends and family over for cake and ice cream. I couldn't ask for a better birthday week! My favorite part... and this may sound funny, but Fernando talked about how he was going to make me a special cake all week long. I was thinking he was going to plan and do a princess cake or a barbie doll cake, okay not really, but put a lot of thought in creating a masterpiece. Saturday came and he hadn't gotten any cake mix, he went to the U vs. BYU football game so I called him and asked if he wanted me to pick up a cake, he hesitated for a while and agreed that that would probably be the best idea seeming how he would get home super late. The next day he made my cake and I laughed so hard, I was crying. Here's a picture of my special cake :)

Fernando called me a couple weeks ago super excited to share with me some news...He bought two tickets to go see Top Gun in the theater. "WOW, that's super exciting" was my response as I was looking at our Top Gun DVD sitting right in front of me. Why wouldn't we pay for tickets to go see a movie that's been out for 25 years and that we already own?

Well, we went and it was really fun, mostly because every time I looked over at Fernando he had a huge smile on his face. Right when we got there he asked when he could get his Top Gun poster. I even think he cried when Goose died. I had tears in my eyes too so I guess I can't judge. See how happy he is...

It was a great St. Patty's day, except for the fact that I lost to Fernando in Tennis. I was ahead 5 games to 2 and somehow he came back and beat me 7 to 5. I think it had to do with the fact that I was chasing after tennis balls the whole time. We only had three balls there for a while and I didn't wear pockets. Not Smart.

The day of LOVE

I woke up, did our routine exercise program, took a shower, finished getting ready and then panicked... Our first Valentines together and I almost forgot to make crepes. It's been a tradition in my family that I've loved and I wanted to carry the tradition into my own family. I had about 10 min until I had to leave for work, but I wasn't going to leave without making them. They were a little clumpy because I didn't have time to mix them completely, but I sure felt good eating one on my way out the door. We did get to sit down for two min and enjoy putting whipped topping, bananas and strawberry jam on them. Fernando thought I was crazy at first with the panicking and all, but I know he changed his mind when he enjoyed the deliciousness of them. It was a great start for our first Valentines.

At school my students asked me what I got for Valentines from my husband. I had to tell them nothing as I sulked and hung my head down... not really... I told them "he better give me something later, I just haven't gotten it yet" I came home to this

My favorite was the card. I'm in LOVE. :)

This last weekend we went home to Rexburg to celebrate the return of Elder and Sister Anderson from the Czech Prague Mission. It was a wonderful celebration. My parents are the greatest. No joke. They are remarkable people and I was so excited to see them home, safe and sound.

Fernando had a rough day. We heard that Jerry Sloan resigned today at 3:00 p.m. After the news Fernando e-mailed me and asked, "How do you feel about naming our first daughter Sloan?" For those that don't know who Jerry Sloan is... Shame on you! He WAS the coach of the Utah Jazz and now only lives on in Fernando's memory.

Our Thanksgiving Adventures

This year we went to Vegas to celebrate Thanksgiving with the Shupes, which we were both very excited about. The prediction for the weather in Salt Lake was 9 degrees. When we got to Las Vegas, we woke up the next morning to warmer weather and a beautiful sunny day. Grandpa made everyone breakfast, which is one of my favorite things when I go to Sandy Valley. We ate pancakes, bacon, eggs, and the best potatoes EVER. After breakfast Fernando and his brother, Austin, decided to go outside and throw a football. When I walked outside to join in, Austin was running inside and Fernando was walking slowly holding his hand or should I say, hiding his hand. I saw a look on his face that told me something was wrong. I asked him and he refused to show me. His dad came out with Austin and he then showed the two of us. While catching the football, it hit his pinkie finger and dislocated it. Because we were unsure of the procedure, we drove to an urgent care at approximately 2:00 p.m. postponing the Thanksgiving meal till 4 p.m. It was planned for 3 p.m. We ended up paying a whole lot of money for a Dr. to do what all the boys had thought about doing at home, but were too scared to mess up his finger. Lesson learned: JUST DO IT.

Turkey Dinner was amazing and the leftovers were the best. My favorite was mashed potatoes, corn, and gravy. Thanksgiving weekend also consisted of going shopping on black Friday, going shooting, taking family pictures, playing the piano in church for Afton's musical number and listening to the family give talks (it was Shupe Sunday and they all did great), and driving 10 HOURSto get home on Sunday because of road and snow conditions. RIDICULOUS!

It was a GREAT Thanksgiving!!!

Fernando and I are both on fall break. Our latest adventures:
Thursday: Played Tennis. I beat Fernando 7 games to 5 games. Ate at Smash Burger. They were delicious. I don't know if it was the fact that we got two burgers for free or because they were really amazingly good. Probably both.
We went and watched "Life as we know it" with JaNae and her friend Craig. It was a good see. We also got a sweet deal on movie tickets. Slickdeals.com is a great website we go to for awesome deals.
Friday: We went to Frightmares today at Lagoon. Fernando rode on the train ride and jet star for the first time. We also went on re-entry, rode the sky ride, went to a witch show, observed people, and decided it was time to go home. That's the beauty of having lagoon season tickets.
Tonight we decided to make a delicious healthy meal. Our sandwiches consisted of: light mayo, Dijon mustard, lettuce, spinach, grilled chicken, avocado, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, mushrooms, and whole wheat bread.
Saturday: We're going to the U vs Air Force volleyball game with my Cyprus volleyball team. Lets hope they win. Go UTES! It's been a great Fall break.

Volleyball has officially started. Yesterday, I had a good friend, Wendy, take our team pictures. They turned out great!! I scheduled in an hour for pictures, but ended taking two. The girls had a lot of fun. All the girls wanted to take model pose pictures in front of the fan and talked me into getting one too. It's super funny, but just know they all got similar ones. After pictures, we went to do our fundraiser at our Athletic Director's home and pulled a million weeds. To cool off, they all jumped in her pool after the work was finished.

We went over to our friend Christi's to enjoy some yummy kabobs with friends. The dress attire was a black shirt and jeans. We were honoring Dallas who just returned from his summer job in Illinois. He was never given the dress attire memo because it just so happens that's what he wears EVERY DAY!

I made corn on the cob the other day and Fernando said his mom loves corn on the cob with mayo and Parmesan cheese on it. I thought hmmmmmmm... and then we both tried it. It was delicious, except I think I ate too much because my stomach hurt the next morning.

A funny story to tell

One of the first things I found out about Fernando after we were married is that he'll put the frying pan and the griddle in the oven after we use them. I found out when I was preheating the oven one day. Lucky for me, I opened the oven soon after and found both nice and warm. I thought... who put those in there and then realized there's only one other person. He said he did it at home. After discussing, I figured it was a great idea... UNTIL TODAY.

The handle melted all over the bottom of the oven. WHOOPS.

The good news is... the griddle still works!

Other good news... I made my very first batch of home-made bread (Mom's home-made bread). Thanks to Michelle for posting the recipe and thanks to mom for always making great bread. It tastes delicious!

Oh, with the extra dough we made Navajo Tacos for dinner just like mom always did. Genius idea.

My best friend decided to ask the question, "Will you marry me?" The best question I've heard from him, and he asks a lot of good questions. One time he asked how I was feeling, another time he asked how my day was, he asks me how school is, he asked me once if I wanted to go eat with him. Another time he asked me if I wanted to go to a movie. He asked me once if I could see any food in his teeth. But when I heard "this" question, I got a little excited or a lot excited.

I now am sporting a rock on my finger that I look at about every two seconds and then I stare for about ten seconds. If you do the math, it takes up most of my day:). I think the most exciting thing about looking at my ring is the thoughts that go through my mind, basically I think about HIM, my best friend, Fernando. It always brings a smile to my face. Once again if you do the math, that means I'm smiling for most of the day. :) I am super HAPPY :)

Road Trip

I went to Jackson with a bunch of friends this last weekend. It was GREAT! We all stayed in a cabin in Victor. List of things accomplished
-Slept in a King size bed
-Sat in a hot tub amongst the stars and great company
-Beat a few people in wii tennis
-Played rock band
-Watched a movie that made me laugh- can't remember the name of it
-Went to the candy store in Jackson
-Took a picture by the Antlers
-Saw Bull Elk
-Ate home made pizza- YUM
-Sang at the top of my lungs to "hey jude" in the car on the way to Yellowstone
-Saw Old Faithful
-Made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in the car
-went running at 9:30 at night in the dark
-played Ninja Destruction (best game ever)
-ate steak and potatoes- another YUM
-Went on a beautiful hike
-Taped a guys arm with duck tape (helping him with his halloween costume)
-Was introduced to Joshua James (great music)

Concert # I don't remember

JaNae and I decided, kind of last min, to go to a Colbie Caillat concert. Since my birthday, I decided I love Colbie Caillat. The reason for it is because JaNae bought me her new cd and I listen to it every time I get in the car. LOVE IT! Anyway, the concert was a lot of fun, except for a couple reasons-

There was this monster of a man standing right in front of me. I'm pretty sure he was 10 ft tall.

There was also a girl, who was a little large standing right next to me, but sometimes I felt that she was standing right on me. She loved taking videos with her phone. Pretty sure she got the whole concert on her phone. She would move it every which way to get the best shot. She didn't really notice that there were people by her who wanted to watch and enjoy the music.

Colbie didn't sing either one of JaNae's or my favorite songs on her new cd. Although there were plenty of times when JaNae thought she was playing my favorite song and would repeatedly say "Tina, isn't this your favorite song"

RECENT ACTIVITY

There have been more firsts for me these last couple weeks. I got invited to a heavy metal rock band concert-- Def Leppard-- some of you may have heard of them. Not my typical like in music, but it was entertaining. Mostly because of the guy I was with. Every song that came up he would say, "Ooooh, this is my favorite", or "Oooooh, I love this song" and then sing at the top of his lungs. He would then look over at me and say, "Tina, why aren't you singing, sing Tina, sing". The problem was, I didn't know the words to any of the songs. Sometimes I would pretend. :) It was great!
I went to my first Utah Utes football game on Thursday. Their first of the season. I couldn't believe all the red. I lost the guy I went with about 20 times because he was lost in the crowd. Okay, not really. I wore my Utah pride too. Not that I really have any, but it was a lot of fun. We sat in the MUSS section. For those who might not be familiar with the MUSS, it stands for Mighty Utah Student Section. GO UTES!!!!! I enjoyed their first victory against Utah State. Another highlight of the night was riding the Tracks for the first time. I was sandwiched against two people. One was eating ice cream and I was really tempted to take a bite and then noticed that it was Aggie ice cream and decided against it. What would people think of me, wearing red and all.

FIRST DAY!

I decided that having a first of anything is kind of a big deal. In kindergarten, I couldn't wait for the first day of school. I think my first day outfit was from DI. I missed my very first school bus (the Mickey Mouse bus) on the first day because my mom was running an errand and thought she would make it back in time. (Do you remember that mom?) I don't know why I felt like she had to be there. There I was, all ready for the day, watching through our big front room window as the bus stopped...and drove away. I was so young, I didn't know I could walk out the front door and get on the bus all by myself.
Anyway, enough of the walk down memory lane. Here's an outline of my first day at Cyprus High for the school year of 2009-2010. You can call me Ms. Anderson :)

The night before I had a hard decision, "What should I wear?" After talking about it and thinking- I decided to go with the basic, black/white, authoritative look. And with the help of a friend, went with my comfy shoes. I know what you're thinking, the shoes are blue, the pants are black... The pants were actually like a blackish blue, so it was fine.

I chose this cereal for the big day because of a couple reasons: First it was the only cereal I have. Okay that's basically all the reasons. But it sure did the job. I had a "TOTALLY" awesome first day. Because I added an ly would that make the word an adverb?
This is the lovely mirror that I looked into this morning to get ready.
Walked out the front door.

Got into my car and drove the 25 min. out to Magna. Pulled into the school Parking lot, whipped out my school keys, opened the gym door, and the day began.

First assignment, other than getting the disclosure signed, is for my students to make a collage of themselves. I had to make one of my own as the example. I have a really good feeling about this year.

MY MOMENT

This last Saturday, I went to the showing of Julie & Julia. It inspired me. I realized some things while watching. I could create my blogging stories/pictures into a book. Not that I'm living my life through Julia Child and creating masterpiece recipes or wearing pearls in the kitchen while I cook, but I have my own life lessons I'm learning.

But mostly the reason I thought of it, is because I remember being in third grade. I loved writing. When I had my friends over for sleep overs, we would put together those little paper books and create great stories and add amazing pictures. I think a couple times, we even acted them out. English class was my favorite. I think it was in 6th grade, I got an award for the most creative writer. I knew one day I would write a book. What happened to that dream?

I'm not promising that every day or even every week I'm going to post with a story, but occasionally I will share a thought/experience/adventure. Maybe I was wrong about this blogging world. I'm loving the fact that I'm talking to someone. I really don't even care if anyone reads this or not, but it's kind of enjoyable to pretend that people are listening. And... I had some positive feedback from my last post. I'll share a few of my favorites.

There's been a number of people--- you know who you are --- that think I need to make another post. It's been a while. To enlighten you individuals, I've decided, why fight it. There's a few reasons why I don't think the blogging life is for me.
1. My life isn't "blogable" exciting
2. I never go throughout my day and think "Hmmm, I should post that thought/activity/experience on my blog"
3. I'm not too creative in my blogging design/layout. I wouldn't know when I should change the background. :)
4. I was told that a person loves how I write in a "mocking" sort of way.
and 5. I can't think of a fifth reason.

So there you have it folks. Top five reasons why this is only my second post. The good news is -there are a lot of great posts out there, the bad news is- I just haven't caught the fire. But I do have a friend that says she won't read my posts unless I put up pictures, so here's some of the stuff I've been doing lately. ENJOY! Amazing falls everywhere-- Havasupai

Let's talk about the New Year approaching. The year 2008 has a special ring to it. We have exactly 5 days to think of all the great goals were going to accomplish. I'm pretty excited about it myself.
